Introduction
No matter how you cut it, losing weight is a battle. Whether it be through intensive exercise, managing a proper diet, or a combination of the two plus other factors, when you reach your targeted weight and body appearance, it feels like a tremendous victory. Unfortunately, some people must deal with stubborn fat that just doesn’t seem to go away no matter what they do.
If you are afflicted with unwanted fat that won’t go away no matter what steps you take, Liposuction in Hawaii could be a great option. Dr. Larry Schlesinger uses his decades of plastic surgery experience to help you achieve the exact look you’ve been struggling for. To find out if this procedure is right for you, please keep reading the information we have provided below.
Liposuction is an extremely popular cosmetic procedure that involves suctioning fat deposits in specific areas of the body. While it can provide results that suggest it is a weight loss surgery, it is a body contouring procedure that is designed to sculpt a patient into an aesthetically pleasing figure.
The goal of liposuction is to sculpt, tone, and add definition to certain parts of the body. Liposuction is used to remove the layer of fat beneath the superficial layer and reduces the number of fat cells in a specified area. Liposuction is the most common cosmetic procedure in the United States and results in an improved body contour and very little scarring.
The best candidates for Liposuction in Hawaii are patients who:
To find out if you are a good candidate for any of our Liposuction procedures, a consultation with Dr. Schlesinger is required. It is important to understand that liposuction is not meant to be used as a weight loss tool, but rather as a method of reducing and sculpting stubborn excess fat areas that normal exercise is having difficulty removing.
First Steps
If you are looking into Liposuction in Hawaii, the first step is to schedule your consultation. During your appointment, you will meet with Dr. Schlesinger who will examine your body and decide the best course of action to help you achieve your body goals. He will ask you some questions regarding your medical and personal history. These questions are not meant to shame you, but rather make sure you’re a viable candidate for the procedure and that you won’t have any unnecessary risks during or after your surgery. We are completely discreet and confidential, so we strongly encourage you to be very open and honest with him. Once all of this information is collected, Dr. Schlesinger will draw up your treatment plan. If you agree with the direction he is going, you will then schedule your appointment with our Patient Coordinator. You will be provided with a list of directions to follow before your surgery to make sure that it goes safely and smoothly.
When you come in for your Liposuction procedure, you will first be administered anesthesia, and the type of anesthesia will vary, with local anesthesia being used for small areas and general anesthesia being used in more extensive procedures.
Dr. Schlesinger will make a small incision, often around 0.4-0.8 inches in length, and insert a blunt-tipped instrument called a cannula that is passed back and forth essentially vacuuming out the fat. The cannula is connected to rubber tubing, which in turn attaches to a machine that generates high vacuum pressure.
The procedure can last from 30 minutes up to 4 hours depending on how many body areas are being operated on.
During your Liposuction recovery, a compression garment or elastic bandages may cover treatment areas once your procedure is completed. These are used to help control swelling and compress the skin to your new body contours.
Additionally, drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove any excess blood or fluid. These drains are small and temporary.
Before you leave, you will be given some specific instructions to help produce the best results, which may include:
