Introduction
At the Breast Implant Center of Hawaii, we understand that every woman’s body is incredibly unique; there is no one-size-fits-all approach to plastic surgery when it comes to the most sensitive areas. At our premier office in Honolulu, HI, we are proud to offer a range of cosmetic procedures, including Labiaplasty, to help women achieve their desired look and feel more confident in their bodies.
If you struggle with physical or mental stress via pain from twisting and tugging of the labia when riding a bike or during intercourse or have itching, irritation, and self-consciousness, then Labiaplasty may be exactly what you have been searching for. This page is dedicated to the facts you need for this popular and life-enhancing surgery.
Labiaplasty in Hawaii is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping or reducing the labia minora, which are the small, inner lips of the vulva. This can be done for cosmetic reasons, to improve the appearance of the genital area, or for functional reasons, to alleviate discomfort or pain during activities such as exercise or sexual intercourse. It is the most commonly performed aesthetic genital plastic surgery, and it can relieve symptoms women experience from twisting and tugging of the labia.
Labiaplasty can have a range of benefits, both physical and emotional. Many women in Hawaii report feeling more comfortable and confident in their bodies after the procedure and may experience improved sexual satisfaction due to reduced discomfort during intercourse. Labiaplasty can also help alleviate other symptoms with benefits such as:
The best candidates for Labiaplasty in Hawaii are women who are in good overall health, over 18 years of age, and have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure. Women who experience discomfort or pain during activities or who are unhappy with the appearance of their labia are good candidates for this surgery, as well as being self-conscious due to labial size or appearance or having labial tears resulting from childbirth.
First Steps
If you feel like Labiaplasty in Hawaii is right for you, the first step is to schedule your appointment at the Breast Implant Center of Hawaii. When you come in for your consultation, you will get to meet with Dr. Schlesinger, who will listen to your body goals, examine the area you wish to enhance, and answer any questions you may have. He will also ask you some questions regarding your lifestyle and medical history. It is very important to be open and honest with her because the information you provide helps prevent any unnecessary risks or side effects. We will then create your personal procedure plan. If you agree with the plan, you will then schedule your surgical date with our Patient Coordinator.
Labiaplasty in Hawaii is typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure. Once you’re comfortable and confidently ready to proceed, we will begin the procedure. There are two surgical techniques used to complete a Labiaplasty. The first is Edge Trimming, which is the process of removing the free edge of each labia with the purpose of reducing the portion present outside of the Labia Majora. The second surgical technique is Wedge Resection, which involves the removal of a triangular wedge of tissue with the remaining portions sutured back together.
It is Dr. Larry Schlesinger’s opinion that Wedge Resection is the most valuable technique and has given his patients a more aesthetically pleasing appearance to their vaginas. Wedge Resection patients also benefit from improved function as this technique is the only one that allows for the tightening of the opening to the vagina. The Wedge Resection also can provide results with minimal scarring. Another aspect of a labiaplasty is the Clitoral Hood Reduction, which is a technically difficult procedure and can have negative, painful consequences if not done correctly. Dr. Larry Schlesinger uses a technique that decreases the chance of scarring around the clitoris by placing the incision at a safe distance from the clitoral hood.
The overall surgery typically takes one to two hours, and patients can usually return home the same day.
Recovery from Labiaplasty typically takes one to two weeks; during this time patients should avoid strenuous activity and sexual intercourse. Dr. Schlesinger will provide detailed instructions for care and follow-up appointments to ensure the best recovery and comfortable healing.
