Breast implants are saline- or silicone-filled inserts that are surgically implanted into a patient’s chest area. Breast implants can give small breasts more volume and a more symmetrical look. Today’s implants are proven to be safe, and can effectively improve your appearance.
The breast implant procedure is not undertaken solely to increase breast size. Dr. Schlesinger can also help you choose the right breast implants to help you improve symmetry and balance your overall body proportions for a natural, flattering silhouette.
I had an excellent experience with my breast implants with Dr Schlesinger. He was professional, yet personal and took a lot of time to make sure I was getting everything I wanted. I got 605 cc and they’re the perfect size and shape for my body type. I would recommend him as a doctor, and his staff was very friendly too!—Actual patient on RealSelf. Implants can impart a more youthful appearance to your breasts and to your overall body. Not every patient is eligible for breast implants. We invite you to schedule a consultation with S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS at his Honolulu plastic surgery practice to determine if this surgery is right for you.
Breast Implants: Specifics
During your initial consultation, you and S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS will discuss the size of implants you desire. S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS will ensure that you have realistic expectations for implant size, since the size will be limited by your body type and structure. There are two main types of breast implants you can choose: saline or silicone. S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS will consult with you about the advantages and disadvantages of each to help you to determine the best one for you. In general, he prefers round, silicone gel implants, as these provide the most natural-feeling breast. It is his decades of experience and highly detailed surgical technique—not the shape of the implant— that result in a beautiful, natural breast contour following breast augmentation.
How do I choose the right breast implant size? Should I go bigger? Real patient advice.
Breast implants are placed during a surgery, and of course the patient is sedated at that time. While you “sleep”, S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS will make an incision normally in your armpit (the specific placement of the incision will depend on your particular anatomy). These incisions will be inconspicuous once they have healed. Some women have their implants placed over their chest muscles while others have it behind (again, this placement depends on the patient’s body type and also on the desired look). After inserting the breast implants, you will begin your recovery.
Breast Implants: What to Expect
Your surgery results will be immediately visible. You will need to avoid heavy lifting for 2 weeks. Be sure to have purchased new bras and tops since after the surgery, you will no longer be able to wear your smaller sizes.
