Breast Lift Story – The Breast Implant Center of Hawaii

Video Transcription:

S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS: I did a breast lift with implants on you. How did it turn out? Do you like the aesthetics of it?

Jeanette: Absolutely. It turned out a lot better than I expected. In fact, my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. That I chickened out seven years ago when I was going to do it.

S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS: Were there any unanticipated benefits from this surgery?

Jeanette: Yes. I had an emergency hysterectomy two-and-a-half years ago and I’d been suffering from intense muscle spasms in my low abdomen and it had crippled my quality of life to the point where I had been to several specialists. I had done intrusive testing and invasive therapy to try and get the muscle spasms under control. And they wanted to send me to the mainland to do an exploratory surgery thinking that I had adhesion or some botched surgery from my hysterectomy. Nobody had an answer so it was really really frustrating. I spent many days drugged up in bed, crying my eyes out because I was like, is this it? Is this the rest of my life? This sucks. And doing the surgery with you, what happened was that it changed my posture and took the added weight that was on my upper abdomen up and off and I have been muscle spasm free for two-and-a-half months which is the longest in two-and-a-half years.

S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS: So in other words, the breast lift was not only aesthetically pleasing, but very very functional for you.

Jeanette: Extremely, and I practice yoga regularly and I’ve been able to do things in my yoga practice that I haven’t been able to do in 20 years. It’s a huge change in my body. My yoga instructor is amazed every time he works with me now. I couldn’t be happier because people that know me, there’s nothing you could do for me, you know what I mean? I would just cry, doubled over in pain. It was horrible. Too young to be going through that, especially I’m vibrant and healthy and active. I couldn’t do any of that.

S. Larry Schlesinger, MD, FACS: I’m thrilled that the surgery, which was my primary concern, had all these side benefits that gave you back your life.
