How Long Do I Have to Wait to Get a Breast Implant Revision?

Video transcript:
Today’s question is “How long do I have to wait to get a breast implant revision?”

It depends on what the problem is. If they’ve fallen to the side, way into the armpit, they’re not going to ever come back so that one has to be fixed.

On the other hand, if the problem is the implant on one side or even both have not dropped and fluffed after three weeks or two weeks, or one week, it doesn’t mean anything. It takes time, and gravity, and may be a little pressure to get them to where you want to get them. If we’re going in to fix something that will fix itself in a couple weeks, that’s not a good idea. On the other hand, if we’re trying to fix something that’s not going to fix itself, then sooner is better than later.

I like to give it six months if we think it’s going to fix itself and at six months, if it hasn’t fixed itself, then fix it.

I’m Larry Schlesinger, I’m a board certified plastic surgeon from Honolulu, Hawaii and I’m very glad that you’ve asked me some questions. Aloha!
